pavement woman is an experiment using the haunting melodies and lyrics of Verdi's requiem combined with the body to express grief. the inspiration for the piece came from healing from being hit by a car in April 2011. i knew it was time to truly put this experience to bed and reclaim any lingering grief that i felt about it. so - i asked myself - what does grief look like incarnate? i got woman, papers, red dress. the papers are the original copies of the deposition. my dear friend who is lawyer strongly encouraged me to use photocopies - but this would not have quite the same potency. the purpose of art for me is destruction and renaissance. come see the beginnings of an evening long work we will show 2014 NYC & LA. info
