the human form & verdi

pavement woman is an experiment using the haunting melodies and lyrics of Verdi's requiem combined with the body to express grief.  the inspiration for the piece came from healing from being hit by a car in April 2011.  i knew it was time to truly put this experience to bed and reclaim any lingering grief that i felt about it.  so - i asked myself - what does grief look like incarnate?  i got woman, papers, red dress.  the papers are the original copies of the deposition.  my dear friend who is lawyer strongly encouraged me to use photocopies - but this would not have quite the same potency.  the purpose of art for me is destruction and renaissance.  come see the beginnings of an evening long work we will show 2014 NYC & LA.  info

the FINANCE DANCE...

Dear Dance Community,
It is time that we as dancers get financially healthy.  We need to empower ourselves around our ability to earn.  The time is now.  As a form, dance is behind most of the other artistic disciplines regarding financial development and prosperity.  We need to revolutionize our sense of worth, earning ability and value from a place of lack and desperation to a knowing that there is enough money for us as artists.  Our form is valuable and the way to create sustainability for the brave souls who have followed their passion for movement is to learn how to earn.

We can start today by valuing ourselves and by paying our dancers for their time, sweat, and artistry.  If there seems to be no way - we will create it together.  United as a community, we have the power to shift this perception on a global scale.  I am standing for change now - are you?
